Decentralized management of ephemeral traffic incidents

Ephemeral traffic incidents, such as a fallen tree on road, pose safety hazards, and impact locally traffic. While these incidents are neither predictable nor persistent, their existence is relevant for all vehicles planning to pass by while the continues. This article develops novel communication strategy vehicular ad hoc networks aiming inform affected vehicles, involving only minimum number of non-affected vehicles. exploits time geography spatial temporal filter, ensuring also that information broadcasting timely terminates when incident over. Agent-based simulations show that, road temporarily blocked due an ephemeral incident, proposed decentralized management model achieves significant improvement in travel efficiency automatically updates outdated time.
